- Edmund Burke
IMAGINE. . . 143 Golden Retrievers found shot to death in an empty field . . . 70 Cocker Spaniels left to starve in an abandoned, padlocked kennel . . . thousands of Labradors packed into trucks and hauled off to their death. Once the protected companion of royalty, the gentle Greyhound has been the victim of horrific incidents such as these since the inception of pari-mutuel wagering 80 years ago. While some are rescued, it's reported that nearly 20,000 dogs are killed year after year in the prime of their life, simply because they're no longer generating racing profits for their owners. Please help end this national disgrace.
